Writing Career

I started writing in 2010 at a site called Liberty Ballers. I was not a featured writer there but I wrote quite a few Fan Posts. This is important to mention since this pretty much jump started my writing “career”. Because of the Fan Posts I wrote, I caught the eye of Josh Dhani. Josh brought me on board at his site “Hardcourt Mayhem” in the summer of 2010 to manage a blog called Wizards Basketball. Some complications led to the network to crash but I stayed on board to write posts from time to time on the main site. Later, Hardcourt Mayhem combined with another site “FootBasket” and so my time writing for the site came to an end. Josh is a very impressive young man. Look him up.

In seeing what Josh accomplished at a young age, I decided to start my own two blog sites. “National Sixers” is a blog site dedicated to writing about the Philadelphia 76ers, my favorite Pro Basketball team. I created a blog called “Dante’s Opinion”. It was just that: my opinion. But, I later transformed it into “DALANEL”. Then, I changed it to “Dante’s Optimism”. These blogs were created in February 2011.

After a while, I joined the “The Sixer Sense” staff in June of 2011. That’s a sports blog for the Philadelphia 76ers. I was named Editor in May of 2012. And while I had fun, apparently I didn’t do a very good job and was demoted back to staff writer in March of 2013. I eventually left the site later that year. Also, the site is part of a blog network called FanSided. Great content from at least the NBA bloggers. I also write for a general NBA site, “Sir Charles In Charge”. I started writing there in March 2013. I also began writing for the front page of FanSided. In early 2015 I joined the site “Whatever A Spider Can” but I had to leave the site late in 2015. In August 2017, I began writing for Bam Smack Pow.

In June 2011, I was accepted to Skyword Inc. and the Gather Program. My categories there were Sports, Business, and Technology. I left the company to pursue other interests but it was a great experience.

I am a voter for the U.S. Pro Basketball Hall of Fame. This is a HOF that focuses on honoring the professionals of the sport in the United States. WNBA, NBA, and any other professional level player/coach/etc. This is not a writing venture but it does involve my writing in the sense that I was selected to represent Sixers fans all around as a blogger (all of the voters are bloggers/writers of the sport). Currently, the guy running the show has put the project on hold. We’ll see what happens.

I was invited to write for a blog site that covers all Philadelphia sports. It was called “PHLSportsFan”. I joined in February 2012. I wrote about the Sixers there. They covered the Sixers, Eagles, Flyers, and Phillies. But unfortunately the site had to shut down. I did enjoyed my time there, even though it was short.

In September 2013, I was invited to join my church’s Newsletter. That project ended shortly after I joined, but I did get an article in there.

In August 2016, I was accepted as a Staff Writer for “Sports Talk Philly” and the “Sixerdelphia” section. I have resumed my coverage of the 76ers.

I contribute to a magazine known as Sunday Magazine. I write on leadership topics for Christian churches. I have used my lighting ministry experience as source material.
